Oshin Derieuw
PROFESSIONAL BOXER, OLYMPIC GAMES
Oshin was 20 years old when she stepped into the boxing ring for the very first time. Initially, she had no concrete objectives, but gradually her hunger for competition grew and grew. However, back then women’s boxing was not yet an Olympic discipline. The turning point came in 2012, when a female boxing tournament finally became part of the largest sporting event in the world. From this point on, Oshin increasingly began to dream about being the first woman boxer from Belgium to take part in the Games. Between 2014 and 2023, she performed outstandingly on the professional boxing circuit with a run of 20 fights unbeaten. During this period she also won four WBF titles (international, intercontinental and world), as well as the EBU, IBO and WBA titles. This was already an impressive track record, but at the end of June 2023 she made Belgian sporting history when she won a silver medal at the European Games, which automatically gave her a golden ticket for the next year’s Olympic Games.
And at Paris in 2024 she finished fifth in the biggest and most competitive event in world sport – a remarkable achievement.
Determination, a burning passion for her sport and the support of her family and team are three of the most important pillars in this success story.
Why does Oshin opt for TGA?
- I love the no-nonsense mentality: what you need is what you get.
- My daily dietary habits are as close to nature as I can make them. TGA offers products that perfectly match this approach.
- Our intestines are our second brain: you can’t achieve good performance without good intestines.
- Recuperation is one of the most important factors in top sporting performance. TGA supplements can help to facilitate this process.
Oshin’s favourites
Electrolytes
When we sweat, we lose more than just water. Electrolytes ensure that we have a proper fluid balance. This is important not only for the functioning of your muscles, but also for your focus. Boxing is a sport in which fast decision making makes all the difference. That is why mental clarity is so crucial.
As a professional boxer, I often need to lose body fluid before the weigh-in, which leaves me feeling tired and exhausted. After the weigh-in, a new intake of electrolytes quickly restores my hydration status and gives my body a real boost.
Whey Protein
Boxing at top level – or any sport at top level – places huge demands on your body. As a 38-year-old woman, I can feel the changes taking place in my body and I also fully appreciate the importance of qualitative and functional muscle power. I would advise every woman to do power training, because it keeps your body and your hormones in balance.
A good recovery period after training not only improves the recovery process, but also ensures that you are sharp and ready for the next training session.
