Quality labels

For the development of its products, The Green Athlete opts for the exclusive use of natural –and, where possible, biological/organic, vegetarian or vegan – raw materials. We make this clear to our consumers through the display of the following labels:

  • Products with a Clean Label contain only natural ingredients.

These ingredients are listed in a clear and unambiguous manner on the packaging. All our products have a Clean Label. This means that their formulas are free from all artificial colourings, preservative and flavourings, as well as soy and gluten.

With Clean Label, The Green Athlete wishes to respond to the expectations of customers that the products they consume are healthy and naturally prepared.

  • The principle of biological agriculture and cultivation is based on the highest possible degree of respect for natural cycles.

Biological products are cultivated in full and fertile ground without the use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides, GGOs or growth hormones. As a result, they grow more slowly but in a more natural way. This is good for people’s health, for the use of scarce water, for the soil and for biodiversity!

Thanks to a number of more efficient techniques, biological agriculture and cultivation require the use of 20% less energy than classic methods of production, whilst also emitting 30% less greenhouse gases.

The term ‘biological’ is legally protected throughout Europe. It is only when the entire supply chain – from farmer to shop – is checked and certified that a product is eligible to carry the EU-biolabel. The growing concern for food safety and its associated health risks, as well as greater concern for the well-being of animals and the need to reduce our ecological footprint, means that the demand for bio-products is continuing to rise.

  • The veggie and vegan logos help consumers to quickly and easily identify which products are free from animal ingredients and/or products derived from animals.

When is the best moment to use an isotonic drink?

Isotonic drinks are most effective when you are engaged in a sporting activity that lasts for longer than 60 minutes or that makes you sweat intensely. They can help by replacing the fluids, electrolytes and carbohydrates that you have lost, which is essential for maintaining your energy levels and improving your hydration during long periods of physical effort. You can best consume your isotonic drink before or during this effort, depending on your needs for hydration and energy.

Why is there a ‘loading phase’ with creatine?

The ‘loading phase’ with creatine helps to build up the creatine reserves in your muscles more quickly. This is achieved by ingesting a higher dosage of creatine during the first 5 to 7 days of use (usually 20 grams per day, spread over 4 intakes). This ensures that the muscles rapidly become saturated with creatine, so that you can enjoy its benefits – such as increased strength/power and better performance in short and intensive physical activities – at a faster than normal rate. After the loading phase, the dosage is reduced to 5 grams per day to keep the concentration of creatine at the optimal level. This is known as the ‘maintenance phase’.

Can I experience a tingling sensation after taking beta-alanine?

Yes, some people experience a tingling or itchy sensation after taking beta-alanine. This is known as paraesthesia and is perfectly normal. The tingling or itchiness is temporary and is caused by the manner in which the beta-alanine acts on the nerves. This is nothing that you should be worried about and the symptoms usually disappear after a short time. To prevent this reaction, we recommend that you split the daily dosage of 6 grams between 4 intakes of 1.5 grams.
