Lars D’Hollander - Van Avermaet

Belgian U23 Cyclist, HUBO-SCOTT CT

Lars D’Hollander is strong-performing Belgian junior who in recent seasons has made his presence felt in the peloton. In the junior category, he has already achieved no fewer than 17 victories, evidence of a consistent level and significant progress.

Moreover, he achieved his victories in different ways:

– solo attacks
– strong in the decisive final section of the race
– clever and controlled domination of smaller breakaway groups

This versatility shows that Lars is not dependent on a single type of race tactic, but can adapt to the way the race develops.

Why does Lars opt for TGA?

  • I opt for TGA because they consciously focus on quality and purity. Their supplements contain only the right and most essential ingredients, without unnecessary or harmful additives. That gives me confidence in something that I use every day.
  • As an athlete, nutrition is an important part of my performance and recovery. With TGA I know that my body will get everything it needs – and nothing that it doesn’t need. This transparency and focus on pure and effective products perfectly match my personal vision on sport and health.

Favourite products

Electrolytes

The electrolytes are great, because they help to maintain my energy and hydration levels, above all on busy or active days. Even on days when I am not cycling, I still drink them all day long. They dissolve easily and are pleasant to use.

Bone Broth

The bone broth is another of my personal favourites, because it is a natural and nutritious form of supplementation. It supports my body well and is ideal for use as a sportsman.

When is the best moment to use an isotonic drink?

Isotonic drinks are most effective when you are engaged in a sporting activity that lasts for longer than 60 minutes or that makes you sweat intensely. They can help by replacing the fluids, electrolytes and carbohydrates that you have lost, which is essential for maintaining your energy levels and improving your hydration during long periods of physical effort. You can best consume your isotonic drink before or during this effort, depending on your needs for hydration and energy.

Why is there a ‘loading phase’ with creatine?

The ‘loading phase’ with creatine helps to build up the creatine reserves in your muscles more quickly. This is achieved by ingesting a higher dosage of creatine during the first 5 to 7 days of use (usually 20 grams per day, spread over 4 intakes). This ensures that the muscles rapidly become saturated with creatine, so that you can enjoy its benefits – such as increased strength/power and better performance in short and intensive physical activities – at a faster than normal rate. After the loading phase, the dosage is reduced to 5 grams per day to keep the concentration of creatine at the optimal level. This is known as the ‘maintenance phase’.

Can I experience a tingling sensation after taking beta-alanine?

Yes, some people experience a tingling or itchy sensation after taking beta-alanine. This is known as paraesthesia and is perfectly normal. The tingling or itchiness is temporary and is caused by the manner in which the beta-alanine acts on the nerves. This is nothing that you should be worried about and the symptoms usually disappear after a short time. To prevent this reaction, we recommend that you split the daily dosage of 6 grams between 4 intakes of 1.5 grams.
